Death, or contemplation of it, has been a great stimulus and teacher. Buddha was the greatest mind to seek a resolution to this ultimate mystery, and his teaching is seminal to my world view.

I heard that North American Indians believed that death is a presence over our right shoulders – always there, but always just out of sight if one tries to see it . . . .
